Chicago, IL – Woman Dies, Two Hurt in Four-Car Crash on 87th St

Chicago, IL (March 20, 2024) – A woman was killed in a four-vehicle collision on the South Side of Chicago on Tuesday. Officers with the Chicago Police Department say the collision occurred around 11:00 a.m. at 87th Street and Western Avenue.

According to early reports, a 36-year-old woman driving a sedan was traveling westbound on 87th Street when the driver of an SUV going eastbound on 87th Street hit her vehicle. As a result of the collision, the sedan then hit two other cars stopped at the traffic light. Authorities added that the SUV’s driver fled the scene. A passenger in the sedan, identified only as an adult female, was transported to Christ Hospital with blunt-force trauma and was later pronounced deceased.

The sedan’s driver was transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center in stable condition. One other woman was also hospitalized while the third driver declined medical attention at the site. CPD officers are conducting an investigation in the interim and have not provided further details.
