Hit-and-Run Car Accidents in Chicago

Hit-and-run crashes have become increasingly common across Chicago’s busy streets. Whether on major routes like Lake Shore Drive or through residential areas such as North Lawndale and Humboldt Park, these collisions leave behind serious injuries and emotional trauma for victims and families.

According to data from the Illinois Department of Transportation, thousands of hit-and-run crashes occur in Cook County each year. Many happen late at night or early in the morning when visibility is lower and fewer witnesses are present. Drivers who flee the scene not only break the law but also leave injured victims to face pain, fear, and uncertainty alone.

Victims of hit-and-run accidents often suffer severe injuries, from broken bones and spinal trauma to head injuries that require extensive treatment and rehabilitation. Medical bills can add up quickly, especially when victims cannot work during recovery. Even when the at-fault driver is not found, victims may still be eligible for compensation through uninsured motorist coverage, which can help pay for medical expenses, lost wages, and pain and suffering.

Handling these claims can be stressful and complex, which is why working with an experienced car accident lawyer in Chicago is so important. A knowledgeable attorney can investigate the crash, gather evidence, communicate with insurers, and fight to secure the compensation you deserve.
